In Mato Grosso, exports of corn Total production reached 2.85 million tons in September 2026, a decrease of 32,071 TP4T compared to the same month in 2025. The decline occurs amidst increased international competition, driven by supply from the United States and Argentina, according to data released by the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea).
Between July and September 2026, Mato Grosso exported 7.61 million tons of corn, a volume 21.441 TP4T lower than that recorded in the same period of the previous year. In addition to the annual decrease, September shipments were 19.011 TP4T below the average of the last five years. This performance reflects the intensification of competition in the international market, which has limited the competitiveness of Mato Grosso corn and increased the competition for the main importing destinations.
In the United States, the ample supply of corn and high stocks have put pressure on prices and increased the country's competitiveness in foreign trade. In Argentina, the record harvest and reduced retentions have increased the availability of the grain and favored sales to the international market. This scenario increases the competition faced by corn from Mato Grosso.
The performance of exports in the coming months will be crucial for the flow of the state's supply. The main window for shipments is concentrated until January 2027, before the advance of the new soybean harvest and the increase in competition for the flow of production. Given this scenario, a recovery in the pace of corn exports becomes a point of attention. If shipments do not advance sufficiently during this period, the lower flow could result in higher stocks at the end of the cycle.
