Tilapia loses value in the domestic market and exports suffer a decline

In August, tilapia prices continued to fall, reflecting still-weakened demand, according to Cepea surveys.

On the other hand, according to the Research Center, the supply of animals shows signs of decline, with lighter fish available on the market.

According to Cepea surveys, prices reacted slightly in the last week of August, but not enough to increase the monthly averages for fish.

Regarding Brazilian tilapia exports, the volume shipped fell sharply in August, to 797 tons, 40.6% less than in the previous month and 41.3% lower than that recorded in the same period in 2024, according to Secex data compiled and analyzed by Cepea.
