Paraná had the third largest increase in the estimated crop production in September, with an absolute variation of 122,000 tons compared to August. The other large variations occurred in Mato Grosso (258,000 tons), Tocantins (186,000 tons), Rondônia (86,000 tons), Goiás (69,000 tons) and Sergipe (48,000 tons). The main decreases were observed in Bahia (-43,325 t), Ceará (-39,757 t), Maranhão (-37,141 t) and Rio Grande do Sul (-28,785 t).
The data was released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) this Tuesday (14) within the Systematic Survey of Agricultural Production (LSPA).
Paraná is the second largest grain producer in Brazil, with a share of 13.5%, behind only Mato Grosso, which has 32.4%. Goiás (11.3%), Rio Grande do Sul (9.4%), Mato Grosso do Sul (7.4%) and Minas Gerais (5.5%) complete the list of the main producers. The production of cereals, legumes and oilseeds estimated in September for 2025 should total 341.9 million tons (with 46 million tons in Paraná), 16.8% higher than that obtained in 2024 (292.7 million tons), and 0.2% above that reported in August.
Among the highlights of the state's growth compared to August are beans, barley, and corn. Paraná is the second largest Brazilian producer of second-crop corn, accounting for 15.51 TP4T of the total. Production is expected to reach 17.4 million tons, representing an increase of 0.21 TP4T compared to August and 38.31 TP4T compared to the previous year.
Paraná is also the largest national producer of beans, forecasting a production of 841,000 tons or 27.3% of the total share, followed by Minas Gerais with 474,200 tons or 15.4% of the share and Goiás with 373,600 tons or 12.% of the share. Beans represent 0.9% of the total production of cereals, legumes and oilseeds, occupying 3.3% of the total cultivated area, approximately 2.7 million hectares.
Regarding barley, Paraná is expected to produce 449,400 tons, an increase of 2.21 TP4T compared to August and 56.51 TP4T compared to 2024, and should contribute 79.31 TP4T to the Brazilian harvest in 2025. Rio Grande do Sul follows with a production of 95,000 tons, a decline of 12.91 TP4T compared to the volume produced in 2024. The production in Rio Grande do Sul should represent 16.81 TP4T of the total barley produced.
Nationally, compared to August, there were increases in production estimates for tomatoes (4.3% or 189,710 t), Robusta coffee (4.2% or 49,513 t), seed cotton (3.7% or 351,683 t), second-crop beans (3.2% or 40,096 t), barley (1.7% or 9,600 t), cassava (1.2% or 253,320 t), wheat (1.0% or 76,602 t), third-crop beans (0.8% or 6,565 t), second-crop corn (0.3% or 352,880 t), and first-crop corn (0.2% or 61 573 t), of sorghum (0.1% or 4,717 t), of rice (0.0% or 2,151 t), among others.

According to the Department of Rural Economy (Deral) of the State Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply, which also measures the evolution of production based on more complete and personalized data, Paraná should harvest 46.3 million tons of grains at the end of the 2024/2025 crop season, a record for the State. The Department's forecast is well above the 23/24 grain harvest (38.48 million tons) and surpasses the record of the 22/23 harvest (45.48 million tons).
According to Deral, Paraná harvested 21 million tons of soybeans in the last cycle. Record production of corn (20.4 million tons) and beans (841,000 tons) also contributed to this historic harvest level. The state also harvested 136,000 tons of rice and 44,900 tons of coffee in the 24/25 season.
