Areas in the North and Northeast regions and northern Mato Grosso remain under alert for dangerous heavy rainfall.

Areas in the North and Northeast regions of the country, as well as the north of Mato Grosso, remain under alert for danger of intense rains this Wednesday (26) and Thursday (27), according to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet). The warning, which came into effect at 9:40 am today and continues until 10 am tomorrow, predicts high volumes of precipitation — between 30 and 60 mm per hour or 50 to 100 mm per day — accompanied by strong winds, from 60 to 100 km/h.

According to Inmet (National Institute of Meteorology), the scenario increases the risk of power outages, falling tree branches, flooding, and lightning strikes. Among the most susceptible areas are regions of Amazonas, Pará, Acre, Rondônia, southern Maranhão and Piauí, as well as large portions of Bahia, Tocantins, and Mato Grosso. Also appearing on the risk map are locations in Central and Northern Amazonas, Southeastern Pará, and the Salvador Metropolitan Region on the coast of Bahia.

In addition to the more severe warning, the institute issued a second alert, indicating potential danger, starting at 10:00 AM this Wednesday and valid until 10:00 AM on Thursday, encompassing areas in central Mato Grosso, northern Goiás, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, and Espírito Santo, as well as the Federal District. For these regions, rainfall is expected to be between 20 and 30 mm per hour or up to 50 mm per day, with winds of 40 to 60 km/h, indicating a low risk of occurrences such as power outages, falling branches, flooding, and lightning strikes.
