Soybean producers in the eastern region of Mato Grosso report that irregular weather and the early emergence of pests are among the main challenges for the 2025/26 crop season, impacting the initial development of crops and the harvest forecast.
The 12th episode of the series “MT Climate and Market”, by the Mato Grosso Soybean and Corn Producers Association (Aprosoja MT), documented the crop conditions in the municipalities of São José do Xingu and Porto Alegre do Norte. In addition to climatic factors, farmers expressed concern about storage capacity and logistics for getting their produce to market.
In Porto Alegre do Norte, producer Guilherme Resende Cruvinel stated that dry spells in the first weeks after planting, which took place in September, compromised the development of the soybeans. "It certainly interfered a bit [with the productive potential]," he assessed. He also highlighted the region's logistical bottleneck. "The region still has a bottleneck in terms of storage, which will make things difficult and will be a concern at harvest time," he pointed out.
Reginaldo Brunetta, coordinating delegate of the Araguaia Xingu Nucleus, observed that the drier climate brought forward the incidence of soybean pests pests such as whiteflies and stink bugs, especially in areas planted earlier.
In São José do Xingu, producer Douglas Michels reported that unstable rainfall led to the need for replanting on approximately 400 hectares of his property. "We had some replanting areas and some stand problems," he explained. Michels also pointed to whitefly as one of the main concerns for the remainder of the crop season.
The series continues this Wednesday (17) through the municipalities of Querência, Água Boa and Nova Xavantina to monitor the conditions of the crops in different regions of the state.
