The Peruvian National Agricultural Health Service (Senasa) has officially authorized 36 new Brazilian facilities to export animal genetic material. Of these, 31 are dedicated to poultry genetics and five to bovine genetic material. In addition to these new additions, the Peruvian authority renewed the export licenses of all establishments in this sector already operating in the Peruvian market, extending their validity until December 2028.
With the new authorizations, the poultry sector doubles the number of establishments authorized to export to Peru. In the bovine genetic material segment, the inclusion of five units represents an increase of 83% in the list of eligible establishments, focusing on serving beef and dairy cattle farming.
Extending the authorization period until December 2028 aims to provide greater predictability to trade operations between the two countries.
The decision by Senasa was based on technical criteria and reinforces the recognition of the sanitary control and biosecurity measures adopted by Brazil in the production and export of animal genetic material.
Last year, the Latin American neighbor imported over US$$ 729 million worth of Brazilian agricultural products, with a focus on forestry products, meats, cereals, flours, and prepared foods.
