The Imea (Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics) released a report highlighting updates on the corn harvest in the state. The survey notes that the cost of the 2025/26 corn harvest was consolidated at R$ 3,319.51 hectares, an increase of 2.56% compared to the previous harvest.
“This movement is influenced by the increase in expenses with seeds (1.91%) and fertilizers (5.93%), estimated at R$ 777.49/ha and R$ 1,421.89/ha, respectively, due to the rise in the dollar in 2025 and the increased cost of industrial production. Spending on pesticides showed an annual increase of 0.25%, totaling R$ 737.78/ha,” detail the Imea technicians.
Given this scenario, the Effective Operating Cost (EOC) was consolidated at R$ 4,806.17/ha (4.22%) and the Total Operating Cost (TOC) was projected at R$ 5,394.08/ha (4.80%).
Imea also considered the estimated average productivity of 116.61 sacks per hectare to indicate the Break-Even Point of R$ 41.22/sc, R$ 46.26/sc and R$ 57.68/sc for the coverage of COE, COT and CT, respectively.
"In this context, the average price traded for the 25/26 crop in Dec/25, of R$ 45.95/sc, allows for coverage of the COE, but remains below that required to cover the COT and CT, reinforcing the role of commercial planning in the economic viability of the 25/26 crop," the publication highlights.
