Exports of processed and fresh chicken meat from Rio Grande do Sul registered an increase of 3.31% in export volumes in September, compared to the same month last year.
In terms of volume, 65,200 tons were exported in September of this year, representing an increase of 2,000 tons compared to September of last year, when the sector exported 63,100 tons. In terms of revenue, however, September of the current fiscal year still saw a decrease of -1.81% in sales, resulting in a net profit of US$117.8 million.
In the sum of volumes for the first nine months of the year, the drop was -2.01% of the total volume for the first nine months of the year, and in revenue, the drop was -2.51% of the total volume for the first nine months of 2024, as shown in the table below:
Analysis of the situation in Rio Grande do Sul:
Market recovery continues to evolve, but the reopening of China is still awaited. The increase in exports to other important markets that have recently reopened signals a favorable scenario for the sector.
“The negative impacts resulting from the case of Avian Influenza registered this year here in Rio Grande do Sul are being partially and rapidly reversed, which demonstrates the importance of our production and exports to the world,” said José Eduardo dos Santos, Executive President of the Poultry Organization of RS (Asgav / Sipargs).
Egg Industry and Production in Rio Grande do Sul:
Egg sales fell by -9.31% in the first nine months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, representing a decrease of 438 tons. This was not reflected in revenue, which increased by 37.51%, reaching US$16 million in sales from January to September of this year.
A considerable increase in egg exports was observed in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in September of this year, from 199.6%, compared to the same month last year.
The resumption of the Chilean market represents a considerable boost for egg exports from Rio Grande do Sul.
"Revenue from egg exports has grown due to the increased value per ton of eggs in the international market and the surge in demand both in Brazil and abroad," Santos points out.
Brazilian Exports
Brazilian chicken meat exports (considering all products, both fresh and processed) totaled 482,300 tons in September, according to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA). This is the best monthly result recorded in the last 11 months, surpassed only by the volume shipped in September 2024, with 485,000 tons – therefore, only 0.6% lower compared to the same period last year.
Revenue from chicken meat exports reached US$857.6 million in September, a decrease of 10.1% compared to the same period of the previous year, which was US$953.8 million.
In the year (January to September), 3.876 million tons were shipped, a volume 1% lower than that exported in the first nine months of the previous year, which was 3.917 thousand tons. The accumulated revenue for the period reached US$$ 7.166 billion, a figure 1.5% lower than in 2024, which was US$$ 7.273 billion.
Brazilian egg exports (considering all products, both fresh and processed) totaled 2,076 tons in September, according to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA). This figure exceeds by 39.7% the volume recorded in the same period last year, which was 1,485 tons.
Revenue from shipments during the month reached US$1.5 billion, a result 94.21 billion euros higher than the total recorded in September 2024, with US$1.5 billion of US$2.8 billion.
With this month's performance, the sector has accumulated 34,378 tons exported between January and September, a number 174.1% higher than that recorded in the first nine months of 2024, with 12,542 thousand tons. In revenue, the accumulated total for the year reached US$$ 80.8 million, an increase of 201.7% compared to the same period of the previous year, with US$$ 26.7 million.
