Harvesting activities for the second corn crop are progressing across Brazil. According to Conab's crop monitoring data, as of last Friday (24), 58.3% of the second crop areas had already been harvested.
This index rose from 49.8% recorded until last week and is behind the 66.1% of the same period in 2025, and below the 65.9% average of the last five years.
The states furthest ahead with the harvest are Tocantins (93%), Maranhão (90%), Mato Grosso (87.9%), Piauí (72%), Goiás (35%), Minas Gerais (27%), Paraná (29%), Mato Grosso do Sul (20%), and São Paulo (10%). The remaining areas are divided between 3.1% still in grain filling and 38.6% already in maturation.
Conab technicians highlight that the harvest continues at an accelerated pace and is moving towards the later-planted plots in Mato Grosso, with yields continuing to exceed initial estimates.
In Paraná, reduced rainfall has favored the progress of the harvest, as it has in Mato Grosso do Sul. However, in Goiás and São Paulo, rainfall and high grain moisture content are still limiting the progress of activities.
Tocantins, Maranhão, and Piauí are entering the final stretch of the harvest, but are registering reduced yields, which are below those recorded in the last harvest.
