Brazilian exports of cotton They maintain their growth rate in 2026, with advances in both the volume shipped and the revenue obtained from foreign sales. In the first eight months of the year, shipments have already exceeded 2 million tons, a result more than 22% higher than that observed in the same period of 2025.
In August alone, Brazil exported 106,300 tons of cotton, a 37.31% increase compared to the same month last year, according to data from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade, linked to the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services. Revenue reached US$179.7 million, a growth of 45.5%. The average price was US$1.70 per kilo FOB, 61% higher than that recorded in August 2025.
In that month, cotton accounted for 0.54% of total Brazilian exports and ranked 29th among products sent abroad. Considering only the agricultural sector, its share reached 2.43%, placing the product in fifth position.
India led the destinations for Brazilian cotton in August, accounting for 25.91 TP4T of shipments. Following were Pakistan, with 16.51 TP4T, Bangladesh, with 141 TP4T, Vietnam, with 13.31 TP4T, and Turkey, with 111 TP4T. According to the National Association of Cotton Exporters, expanding the number of destinations reduces dependence on specific markets and increases the resilience of exports to international fluctuations.
The organization assesses that the performance reflects advances in productivity, fiber quality, sustainability, traceability, and professionalization of the supply chain. High supply and the ability to meet the needs of different buyer profiles have also been supporting Brazilian expansion. The challenge, according to Anea, is to expand markets, strengthen long-term commercial relationships, and ensure conditions for the flow of increasing production.
