Beans: Frosts worry producers during planting.

The sowing of bean The first crop is progressing in different regions of Rio Grande do Sul, but the cold and frosts are already causing damage in areas of Ijuí. According to data released by Emater/RS-Ascar, 35% of the projected area has already been sown in the region, while other areas are still waiting for adequate moisture conditions to begin planting.

In the Ijuí administrative region, planting reached 35% of the planned area. However, the cold and frosts caused wrinkling and burning of leaves in the crops. The price of beans in the region is R$195.00 per 60-kilo sack, according to data released by Emater/RS-Ascar.

In the Pelotas region, some producers who own higher ground, protected from the intense and unseasonal cold, have already begun preparations for cultivation. The work includes soil preparation and the acquisition of seeds, fertilizers, and other necessary inputs for planting.

Sowing should begin when soil moisture is favorable for machinery to enter and should continue until October.

In the Soledade region, bean planting for self-consumption is nearing completion in the Lower Vale do Rio Pardo. Planting for commercial purposes is also nearing its end, but occupies a relatively small area.

In the Central-Serra and Alto da Serra do Botucaraí regions, the areas designated for cultivation are already prepared. Some crops intended for commercial purposes have already been sown.

According to data released by Emater/RS-Ascar, the price of beans in these regions is R$150.00 per sack. The scenario shows different paces of planting for the first bean crop in Rio Grande do Sul. While Ijuí has already advanced 35% of the projected area, producers in Pelotas are still dependent on improved moisture to begin sowing. At the same time, the cold and frosts require attention in the already planted areas, especially given the damage observed on the leaves of the crops in Ijuí.
