Goiás projects exporting 20% of its fish production.

Fish farming is expanding its presence in Goiás' agribusiness. Last year, the state's fish farming production reached 31,580 tons, a volume 2,77% higher than that recorded in 2024, consolidating the activity's growth in the state. The data is presented according to data from the Brazilian Fish Farming Yearbook PeixeBR 2026.

Expansion is favored by the abundance of water resources and favorable climatic conditions, factors that contribute to the continuous growth of production. This scenario has stimulated the organization of the production chain and attracted producers who previously worked mainly in agriculture or livestock farming.

Another factor driving the sector is investment in the professionalization of production, as well as the regulation and modernization of meat processing plants and agro-industries, measures that increase sanitary compliance and strengthen the segment's structure.

With the availability of land for cultivation and the expansion of infrastructure for processing and adding value to fish, fish farming in Goiás is also seeking to expand its presence in foreign markets, taking advantage of the state's export potential.
