Prolonged periods of rain have a direct impact on crop performance and increase the risk of productive and economic losses in the field. The combination of high humidity and waterlogged soil favors the development of fungal diseases, intensifies nutrient leaching, and hinders operations such as management and harvesting.

The effects are observed in different crops, such as soybeans, corn, beans, and vegetables, impacting productivity and the commercial quality of the products. The incidence of foliar diseases also tends to increase, worsening the phytosanitary situation in already compromised areas.

Given this scenario, adjustments in nutritional management become one of the main tools for mitigating damage. According to agronomist and Master in Phytopathology, Fernanda Aguiar, excess water alters plant physiology and increases vulnerability to pathogens. “High soil moisture makes plants more susceptible to biotic damage. Therefore, the use of technologies that stimulate the strengthening of cellular structure helps maintain the productive potential of crops,” she states.

The technical recommendation includes the adoption of specific management protocols, adjusted according to the type of climatic or physiological stress faced by the crop. These protocols guide the producer regarding the most appropriate time for intervention, the indicated technologies, and the most efficient management practices in each situation, whether it be excessive rainfall, drought, hail, or heat waves.

In practice, the goal is to enable faster decisions based on technical criteria, reducing plant exposure to adverse conditions and preserving productive potential. A balanced supply of nutrients, especially during critical developmental stages, is also identified as a key factor in maintaining crop health and performance in high-humidity environments.
