The Mato Grosso Breeders Association (Acrimat) expressed concern about the recent publication of Notification Notice No. 25/2025, issued by Ibama. In addition, rural property owners in the region were notified to adopt fire prevention and control measures.s in the vicinity of the property.
Among the consequences, the rural producer may be penalized with a citation and fine. It is estimated that more than 1,500 rural properties of different sizes have been notified in the regions of Cáceres, Poconé, Nossa Senhora do Livramento, Santo Antônio de Leverger, Barão de Melgaço and Porto Esperidião.
In view of the undue direct liability of producers, Acrimat sent a letter to Governor Mauro Mendes, the president of Ibama, Rodrigo Agostinho and the Superintendent, Cibele Madalena Xavier Ribeiro, requesting the implementation of Prevfogo brigades in the regions, in addition to the hiring of temporary brigades to work in the risk area, since many times, the properties need support to help control fires in the region, especially small producers, who are among the most vulnerable to the impacts of the measures taken.
In addition to the damage to the producers' image, in the event of a penalty, the entity warns that the classification may compromise these properties' access to rural credit, directly impacting economic activity.
Another point criticized by several other entities is the inclusion of indigenous areas, such as the Kadiwéu Indigenous Land, in the notification. For Acrimat, the responsibility for managing and preventing fires in these territories lies with the Union, and cannot be transferred to the rural production sector.
The association reinforces that rural producers are partners in environmental preservation and demands that actions by environmental agencies be guided by technical, impartial and transparent criteria.
