Goiás reaches a surplus of R$5.5 billion in its trade balance

The Government of Goiás recorded a trade surplus of US$1,500,000 (5.5 billion euros) for the period from January to August 2025. This represents an increase of US$1,400,000 (81,400,000) compared to the same period in 2024, reflecting exports worth US$1,500,000 (9 billion euros), placing the state as Brazil's eighth-largest exporter throughout the year. Imports totaled US$1,500,000 (3.5 billion euros), placing it eleventh in the national import market. These data are from the Superintendence of Foreign Trade and International Investment Attraction, released by the Secretariat of Industry, Commerce, and Services (SIC).

"Goiás remains competitive in the international market, and we are working to further expand Goiás' presence in foreign trade by focusing on opening new markets for our products," emphasizes Joel de Sant'Anna Braga Filho, head of the SIC. In August 2025 alone, the trade balance had a surplus of US$1,500,000.00, with exports of US$1,500,000.00 and imports of US$1,500,000.00, a positive increase of US$48,800,000.00 compared to the same month last year.

Taking into account the first eight months of the year, the soybean complex led the export agenda, representing 54,42% of the state's external sales, followed by exports of meat (18,15%), ferroalloys (6,17%), sugar (4,27%) and corn complex (4,24%).

Among the municipalities in Goiás, Rio Verde remains prominent as the state's main exporting city, representing 27,59% of Goiás' exports from January to August 2025. Next come Jataí (7,8%), Mozarlândia (4,52%), Palmeiras de Goiás (4,02%) and Alto Horizonte (3,19%).

Goiás' exports in 2025 were primarily destined for China, which remains the state's largest trading partner, accounting for 48,511 TP4T of total exports. China is also the main source of Goiás' imports, concentrated in Anápolis (39,151 TP4T), representing 23,391 TP4T of the total value.
