Brazilian farmers are expected to harvest 353.4 million tons of grains in the 2025/26 crop year, a result that maintains the expectation of a slight growth of 0.3% compared to the volume obtained in the 2024/25 cycle and which, if confirmed, establishes a new record in the historical series of the National Supply Company (Conab). The data are in the 6th Survey of the 2025/26 Grain Crop, published this Friday (13) by the Company. According to the document, the area destined for planting should grow by 1.7%, being estimated at 83.2 million hectares, while the national average productivity of the crops should reach 4,250 kilos per hectare in the current cycle.

The main first-crop cultures are already in the harvesting phase. For soybeans, around 50.61 TP4T of the planted area has already been harvested. February was a challenging month for soybean producers, with excessive rainfall in the Midwest and Southeast, especially in Goiás and Minas Gerais, and irregular weather in much of Rio Grande do Sul. At the beginning of March, the North and Northeast regions are experiencing hampered fieldwork due to excessive rainfall. Despite the challenges encountered, in general, the weather conditions favored crop development, and the expectation is that production will reach a new record of 177.8 million tons.
Abundant rainfall in the Southeast and Midwest regions, which limited further expansion of the soybean harvest, also resulted in a later planting of the second corn crop. Some states, such as Goiás, Maranhão, and Minas Gerais, are already indicating a reduction in the area dedicated to the cereal. With this scenario, the estimated area for the second corn crop is 17.7 million hectares, with a projected production of 108.4 million tons. As for the first corn crop, the outlook is for growth in both area, estimated at 4.1 million hectares, and production, potentially reaching 27.4 million tons. Considering the three corn crops sown throughout the season, Conab expects production to reach 138.3 million tons.

Given the adjustments in total corn production, reflecting adjustments in the planted area of the second corn crop, the carryover stocks of the grain at the end of the cycle have also been updated, estimated at 11.6 million tons at the end of January 2027. In the case of rice, Conab estimates a carryover stock of around 1.7 million tons, the second largest volume compared to the last 5 cycles, even with the reduction in production projections for the current season.
For soybeans, record production allows for robust export expectations in 2026, with projected shipments potentially reaching 114.39 million tons, a new record for sales to the foreign market if the volume is confirmed at the end of the oilseed's marketing year.
