Corn suffers from excessive rain and falling prices.

The advancement of planting corn In southern Brazil, the agricultural sector is facing difficulties caused by excessive humidity, while prices remain pressured by low commercial activity. According to TF Agroeconômica, rainfall and national supply exceeding demand have limited both fieldwork and the recovery of prices.

In Rio Grande do Sul, the planting of the 2026/27 crop has reached 78% of the 896,400 hectares planned, with an estimated productivity of 7,711 kilograms per hectare. Emater indicates that 98% of the crops are in vegetative development. High humidity, cloud cover, and mild temperatures are delaying operations and plant growth. Storms with hail recorded at the end of September caused irreversible damage and losses of productive potential in the most affected areas.

Planting reached 95% in Frederico Westphalen, 92% in Ijuí, and 90% in Passo Fundo and Santa Rosa. In contrast, Soledade reached 63% and Pelotas only 9%. In the Rio Grande do Sul market, the price per sack varies from R$ 60 to R$ 70, while the state average fell by 0.57%, to R$ 62.59.

In Paraná, Deral reports that 86% of the summer corn area has been sown. Germination is generally good, but rain, strong winds, and low sunlight are hindering initial development. Continued rainfall may reduce the planting window for the second crop. In some regions of Paraná, producer prices have fallen, with the sack at R$ 50.58 in the West.

In Santa Catarina, the gap between offers to sell at around R$ 60 and offers to buy at R$ 55 per sack makes deals difficult. Meanwhile, in Mato Grosso do Sul, prices fluctuate between R$ 52 and R$ 54, with buyers focused on replenishing stocks and the bioenergy industry absorbing part of the supply.
