Last week, Cargill Animal Nutrition and Health inaugurated its production plant for beef cattle supplements in Primavera do Leste (MT). The unit, focused on products under the Probeef brand, expands the company's presence in Brazil's main cattle-producing state and reinforces its strategy of getting closer to rural producers.
With over ten thousand square meters of built area, the new plant was designed to guarantee high operational performance, safety, and energy efficiency. The operation encompasses the receiving and storage of raw materials in bulk, big bags, and sacks. The received material then goes through grinding, automatic dosing, mixing, and bagging of the products, until storage in a finished product warehouse.
With a production capacity of up to 150,000 tons per year, the unit meets the growing demand for supplements for pasture-raised and feedlot cattle, two modalities that have helped position Brazil as one of the major global players in the supply of animal protein.
In an automated way, the unit combines sustainability and traceability, as the company operates 100% of its internal handling equipment using renewable energy, including forklifts and pallet jacks. The products are easily identifiable at each stage of the manufacturing process to facilitate management and quality control, allowing the exact origin of each raw material used to be traced in each bag of product.
Local development
The choice of Primavera do Leste was due to the synergy with other Cargill operations, which already has a soybean processing unit in the municipality, and its strategic position to serve the Araguaia Valley and other regions of Mato Grosso – a state that concentrates the largest cattle herd in the country.

Here, innovation, efficiency, and sustainability will become a reality, transforming the strength of the brand into products, services, and teams that provide solutions for the challenges of livestock farming today and in the future,” celebrates Celso Mello, VP of Animal Nutrition and Health for South America at Cargill.
More than 230 workers were involved in the construction, assembly, and automation phases. The operation generated 80 direct jobs, with the potential to expand to 120 positions as new shifts are activated. The company prioritized hiring local labor and training leaders in local units.
In addition to its proximity to important grain-producing centers and sources of DDG (dried distillers grains), the location offers operational efficiency and agility in serving clients in regions with intensive livestock farming, stimulating productivity and reducing losses.
